The garden was brought back to order during the winter of 2003 when Allison Wragg took over as garden manager. Allison trained at Pershore college and joined “The Talbot” after working at Le Manoir aux Quat’Saisons in Oxfordshire.

The regeneration of the garden here at The Talbot consisted of a complete re-landscape and long narrow raised beds form a neat backdrop for us to grow quality produce for use daily in the professional kitchen. As an aid to extend seasons and ensure salads all year round the garden has two polytunnels and a large glasshouse which is used to raise strong transplants of vegetables.
Varieties are selected to suit the site and soil as well as, of course, taste. The vegetables and herbs grown here are as fresh as they can possibly be, so they lose no quality as they pass from garden fork to table fork. Allison had to leave us, however her legacy and ethos are being continued by Steve Turner of 'Veggie Pots' who has taken over the management of the garden, and Roger who carries out the day to day maintainence. |
