Teme Valley hops

Yet another enterprise was embarked upon when, in 1997, a microbrewery was established on the premises . This has proved very popular and in October, after hop picking, we hold the Green Hop Festival. Beers are available to take away, or in larger quantities for retail outlets.

The Bar

REAL ATMOSPHERE ~ REAL ALES ~ GOOD FOOD

In marked contrast to the tranquil atmosphere in the dining room, is the lively activity of the Lounge Bar, where home produced ales are appreciated by locals and visitors alike whilst exchanging fishing tales, or warming cold toes before the huge open fires.

The Brewery

The Teme Valley Brewery opened in 1997 at The Talbot. Until September 2000 the brewery was the only privately owned UK brewery growing and using its own hops for brewing.
In September 2000, after hop picking, the Lulsley Court Estate was sold. The Clift family had been growing hops at Lulsley Court since the late 19th Century and had been much involved in the history of hop growing in the area, and were among the first to change to mechanical hop picking in 1947
.

The Teme Valley Brewery will continue to feature Worcestershire Hops in all its beers with 90% still grown at Lulsley Court.

Beers are available to take away in:

3 pint flagons
2 gallon bag in box
4.5 gallon bag in box

All containers are re-usable and larger quantities are available for commercial outlets.

Bar Food

We have a selection of bar meals, ploughmans and rolls available at lunchtime (12:00 - 14:00 Monday - Sunday) and in the evening (18:30 - 21:00 Monday - Sunday) we offer a varied restaurant and bar menu.  On a Sunday we offer a selection of Traditional Roast meals.

Distinctive and delicious food made from locally produced ingredients is a central tenet of the Talbot Inn. With the exception of fresh fish, which is delivered from Cornwall and Wales, anything that can't be home-grown is bought in from a known local source - ideally within 5 miles. Traditional, and sometimes ancient, recipes are reworked with a modern and original flair and a real emphasis
on wholesome flavour.

See the Restaurant page for more on our ethos.

The following comprises a typical seasonal bar menu; these dishes are subject to availability of ingredients on the day - if a particular item is of interest to you please phone ahead (01886 821235) to check availability. Our menus change daily.
Tables in the bar cannot be pre-booked, and on busy days the bar menu is not available in the restaurant.
Daily specials are on the blackboard or telephone / email / fax for today's menu.
